He remains blunt through out his articles and opinions and values portraying the truth and unbiased opinion within the network. Occasion- Jenkins directs his focus mainly towards political events taking place within Britain and the United States. For example, he covers Donald Trump, but he also covers Jeremy Corbin. Audience- Simon Jenkins' targeted audience are liberals and those who prefer a blunt opinion on a political event. Although, most of his blunt opinions may lean towards the liberal side, his work may also be intriguing for conservatives. For instance, in one of his articles, "Yes, Donald Trump is a monster. But his agenda isn't all bad", he mentions all the ways people choose to insult Trump, but he follows it up with how useless insulting him is. Instead of making an article completely insulting Trump, he made an article attempting to find good in whom he referred to as anything but an effective leader. Purpose- One of Simon Jenkins' main purposes for his work seems to serve as a writer with an unbiased opinions. His work covers all politics and although he does side with particular candidates, he maintains his reputation of calling people out if he believes they are in the wrong (politically). Subject- The author's subject through out his work mainly leans towards politics. Tone- Jenkins keeps a consistent sarcastic and conversation tone across all his work. He refers to people as "idiots" and "fools" and throws in the word "hell" when he feels the necessity to. It all may be to make his arguments stronger, but it also helps the reader understand the political article in a more amusing and easy to read way. |
